On offer is an antique Chinese cinnabar lacquer vase attributed to the late Qing or early Republic period. The deep red surface is carved with a sinuous dragon moving among stylised clouds, surrounded by lotus flowers and traditional scrolling borders.

The lacquer decoration is applied over a metal body. Cobalt blue enamel finishes the interior and base, complemented by gilt rims. In Chinese art, dragons traditionally represent power, strength and protection, while clouds are associated with the heavens and good fortune.
