Originally mounted on an Art Deco marble base, the marble has sadly been broken away leaving the beautifully modelled dog figure itself intact. The sculpture captures the sleek streamlined form associated with Art Deco animal studies of the 1920s and 1930s.

Greyhounds and whippets became highly popular subjects during the Art Deco period, celebrated for their elegant lines and athletic form which suited the movement’s modern styling. Spelter was widely used for decorative sculptures during this period as it allowed detailed casting while imitating the appearance of bronze.

The dog remains in good condition with pleasing aged patina and measures approximately 6 inches long and 3 inches tall. A genuine piece of Art Deco animal sculpture that still displays beautifully despite the loss of its original marble plinth.
