On offer is a set of four vintage African terracotta vases, believed to date from the mid twentieth century and attributed to the traditional pottery of the Venda people of South Africa. Each vessel is individually formed and decorated with geometric carving, textured bands and contrasting smoke fired areas.

Venda pottery is traditionally hand built by women using skills passed through generations. The Mukondeni community in Limpopo is particularly associated with preserving this ceramic tradition. These Venda terracotta vases retain their natural unglazed surfaces and individual character.
