Plain stem wine glasses were produced throughout Britain and Western Europe during the first half of the nineteenth century before fully mechanised production became widespread. The snapped pontil is a characteristic feature of hand blown manufacture and adds to its authenticity. This example remains in excellent antique condition with light age related wear, no chips or cracks, and produces a pleasing ring when lightly tapped. A fine example of nineteenth century hand blown glass that brings character and authenticity to any collection or interior.
