Japanese Imari Porcelain Vase Hand Painted 19th Century
£20.00
On offer is an antique Japanese Imari porcelain vase dating from the 19th century. The vase is hand painted in the traditional Imari palette, featuring iron red, deep cobalt blue, and black outlining, arranged in stylised floral and scrolling motifs around the body. The form is well balanced, with a gently rounded profile and short neck, typical of small decorative Imari wares of the period.
Imari porcelain takes its name from the port of Imari in Japan, from which wares produced at Arita were exported from the 17th century onwards. By the 19th century, Imari decoration was highly refined and widely collected for its bold colour contrasts and dense surface patterning. This example stands approximately 5 inches tall and remains in good antique condition, with no issues noted.
A well preserved example of 19th century Japanese Imari porcelain, offering strong decorative appeal and traditional craftsmanship.
