19th Century Chinese Copper Champlevé Budai Figure with Stand

£95.00

On offer is an antique 19th-century Chinese copper figure of Budai, decorated in champlevé enamel and complete with its original carved hardwood stand. Champlevé enamel was widely used across Qing-period decorative arts, with coloured enamel applied into carved or cast recesses in metal, producing vibrant, long-lasting detail. This example remains sealed on the base — unusual for these figures, as many have lost their base plate and the prayer contents traditionally stored inside.

The figure shows age-related verdigris to the copper and a few small dents, while the carved stand has a split and minor chips. The stand measures approximately 3.5 inches tall and 4.25 inches wide. A small but characterful and well-preserved piece of late Qing decorative craftsmanship.
