Brass Vase Egyptian Revival Engraved 1920s Antique Souvenir
£75.00
On offer is an antique Egyptian engraved brass vase dating to the 1920s, produced during the height of the Egyptian Revival movement. Following the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922, Egyptian themed decorative objects such as this were widely made as souvenirs and decorative works, drawing on ancient motifs and archaeological imagery.
This tall brass vase is finely engraved over the entire body with a variety of figural and architectural scenes inspired by ancient Egypt. The form is well proportioned with a gently tapering body, and the surface decoration shows careful hand engraving throughout. It stands at approximately 10 inches tall. Condition is good for its age, with a few small dents consistent with age and use. Dark marks visible in the photographs are shadows from lighting rather than damage. A fine example of a 1920s Egyptian engraved brass vase that captures the character and historic fascination of the period.
