Chinese Jewellery Box Twentieth Century Hand Painted Porcelain and Carved Wood
£145.00
On offer is a 20th-century Chinese jewellery box featuring an unusual reversible design. The two doors and lower drawer can be displayed either with hand-painted porcelain landscape panels facing outward or with carved wooden panels showing traditional motifs. This dual-sided arrangement is characteristic of later 20th-century decorative craftsmanship, blending painted porcelain artistry with skilled wood carving.
The porcelain panels show finely executed mountain and river scenes in soft ink-style tones. Light marks are visible along the edges of the panels; these have not been cleaned to avoid any risk to the artwork. The box itself is well made and substantial, with good weight and neatly fitted internal compartments. Condition overall is good with expected minor surface wear.
The jewellery box measures approximately 17 inches high, 11 inches wide and 6 inches deep.
