Japanese Bronze Mouse with Ivory Embellishments Meiji Period
£ 495.00
On offer is a late 19th to early 20th-century Japanese bronze sculpture depicting a mouse climbing an ivory leaf to reach an apple, a theme strongly associated with Meiji-period craftsmanship. The modelling shows fine detail, from the textured fur of the mouse to the smooth contrast of the ivory elements. The bronze retains an attractive aged patina, and the sculpture is mounted on a carved wooden base. An excellent example of mixed-material Japanese metalwork from the period, rich in character and artistry.
