Blue and White Transferware Platter Wild Rose Pattern Swillington Bridge Pottery

£125.00

On offer is a rare early 19th-century English blue and white transfer-printed platter attributed to Swillington Bridge Pottery, Methley, Yorkshire. The design is the Wild Rose pattern, showing a detailed riverside view with figures, a bridge and cottage, derived from Nuneham Courtenay scenery. The pattern is documented and illustrated in The Dictionary of Blue & White Printed Pottery, Volume 1, page 401, confirming its significance.

Swillington Bridge Pottery operated between 1817 and 1831 and produced wares from copper plates engraved by Wildblood, John & Co., established in 1805. As many pieces from this pottery were unmarked, this example aligns closely with known output from the period. A substantial early transferware piece with strong historical connections and crisp printed detail.
