19th Century Bell Metal Pestle and Mortar – Georgian/Victorian Apothecary
£ 75.00
On offer is an early 19th-century bell metal pestle and mortar from the late Georgian to early Victorian period. Made from a high-tin bronze alloy traditionally used for durable utilitarian vessels, it features a thick cylindrical body, a wide flared rim, and distinctive twin square handles typical of apothecary equipment designed to be held or clamped during heavy grinding.
The mortar stands approximately 4.5 inches tall, and the matching pestle measures around 9.5 inches with a classic T-bar handle for controlled pressure. Both pieces display a warm, well-preserved patina consistent with their age, showing only minor surface wear and no major damage or repairs.
A substantial and characterful piece of apothecary history, ideal for collectors and period interiors.
