On offer is an original 1914 Princess Mary brass Christmas gift tin, issued to serving British troops during the First World War. Initiated by Princess Mary, the project aimed to provide every soldier and sailor with a Christmas present in 1914, typically including tobacco or cigarettes, sweets or chocolate, a pencil, a greeting card and a portrait of the Princess.
This tin retains its original engraved decoration and shows age-related wear consistent with service use, but remains in good overall condition. Measuring approximately 5 × 3.25 inches, it is a well-preserved example of a highly collectable WW1 memento.
