On offer is an 18th-century First Period Worcester porcelain plate dating to circa 1765, decorated in underglaze blue with hand-painted floral motifs and a small butterfly. The piece features the characteristic basketweave moulded border associated with Worcester’s early production. It bears the Worcester crescent mark in blue to the underside, a hallmark used by the factory during the mid-18th century when Worcester was establishing its reputation as one of Britain’s leading porcelain manufacturers.
A fine example of early Worcester porcelain with attractive period decoration and classic First Period craftsmanship.
