Rare 18th Century Chinese Export Plate – Yongzheng Period (c.1723–1735)
£ 65.00
On offer is a rare and beautiful 18th-century Chinese export porcelain plate, dating from the Yongzheng period (c.1723–1735) of the Qing Dynasty. Exquisitely hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue, this plate is a superb example of fine early Chinese export ware created for the European market during one of China’s most artistically refined porcelain eras.
This delicately potted porcelain plate features a classic floral scroll design, with chrysanthemums and trailing vines that echo the naturalistic motifs highly favored during the Yongzheng reign. The design is centered by a medallion of stylized foliage enclosed within a geometric lattice band, mirrored by a complementary border around the rim—hallmarks of refined Qing aesthetics.
Measuring approximately 8.5 inches in diameter, the plate maintains a light and elegant profile. It remains in display-worthy condition for its age, with two small rim chips, one of which has resulted in a short hairline crack. These are consistent with use and handling over centuries and are visible in the accompanying images. The plate remains structurally sound and displays beautifully on a stand or wall mount.
