On offer here is a superb pair of Georgian English sterling silver sugar tongs/nips. These tongs are late 18th to early 19th century George 3rd. I can not give you an exact date as I can not make out the full set of hallmarks. I can read the Newcastle mark, the Lion, and what looks like Georges’s head. on the other side, there is a makers mark which again is hard to read Could be DD. DL.DR all of which were used from 1780s through to 1820s. the tongs are in good condition especially for their age, they measure at approx 5.5 inches long and have a weight of approx 33 grams
