Early 19th Century Georgian Glass Rummer – Engraved Bowl, Unpolished Pontil

£ 70.00

On offer is a fine early 19th-century English Georgian glass rummer, a superb example of period glassware that blends elegant design with historical charm. These large, stemmed glasses were popular during the Georgian and Regency eras for serving wine, spirits, or punch — and are now highly collectible for their craftsmanship and resonance with a bygone age.

This rummer features a generous, conical bowl with engraved initials, adding a personal, possibly monogrammed touch typical of the early 1800s. It has a beautiful ring when lightly pinged, a sign of high-quality lead glass, and sits on a solid stem with a blade or collar knop, atop a flat circular foot.

To the underside is a rough, unpolished pontil mark, consistent with hand-blown production techniques of the era. It stands approximately 135mm tall with a rim diameter of 92mm. Overall, the condition is good with just a tiny chip on the stem collar, as shown in the photos — a minor issue that does not detract from display or use.
