Japanese Meiji Period Champlevé Enamel & Brass Vase – 12.5″ Tall
£ 95.00
On offer is a stunning antique Japanese enamel and brass vase, crafted during the Meiji period (1868–1912). This exquisite piece is a fine example of champlevé enameling, a traditional technique where intricate designs are carved or cast into metal and filled with rich enamel colours.
This large, highly decorative vase features beautifully detailed bands of mythological motifs, stylized dragons, and geometric patterns, all meticulously enameled in vibrant blues, greens, reds, and whites. The brass body is finely incised with a delicate textured background, enhancing the vividness of the enamel work.
Standing at an impressive 12.5 inches (32 cm) tall, the vase has applied mask handles with ring details on either side, adding to its commanding presence.
Condition is good antique, with minor age-related enamel wear and a dent near one of the applied masks—visible in the photos but not detracting from the overall impact and decorative appeal of this striking piece.
